THINGS OF NOTE

  • Your amazing self and your best happy pants.

  • Swimsuits and swimmy things. Floaties are a-okay.

  • Summer camp clothes (tennies, flip flops, shorts, you know the drill).

  • A warm layer (you probably won’t need it, but it’s the redwoods, so you never know).

  • A snazzy outfit for the wedding.

  • Any emergency medications you may need.

  • Any food or drink things you can’t live without.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Anything too precious to get dirty.

  • Toxic bug spray and sunscreen. Leonard Lake is a nature preserve, so they ask that you use natural bug sprays and reef safe sunscreens. Both are provided in the cabins.

  • Hair dryers, styling tools, appliances of any kind. The venue is off grid, so anything with a large energy draw could overload the system. We’ll supply a generator powered glam up station for all to use on Saturday.

  • High heels (unless you feel super awesome about walking through the woods in heels).

  • Your own boat or watercraft. Kayaks, canoes and boats are provided.

  • Sheets, towels, bedding, etc. All of this is provided in bunks. Do bring your bedding if you’re camping!

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

Nope, but high clearance is recommended if possible. The last nine miles, roughly 45 mins, of the journey are on a single lane dirt road. The road is fairly well maintained, but there are a few bumpy spots. You definitely do not need AWD, and could make the journey in a sedan, but you’ll probably be more comfortable in a higher clearance car all things being equal.

DO I NEED A 4WD TO GET THERE?

DOES IT REALLY TAKE AN HOUR TO GET BACK OUT TO CIVILIZATION?

Yes. We are not joking. It takes an hour and fifteen minutes to be exact. It’s really not practical to run out and get things you forgot once you get to camp. We’re not going to stop you, this isn’t a prison camp, we just want you to believe us when we say it’s a 2.5 hour round trip on a really really long one-way dirt road. Please please please trust us and plan accordingly. Ukiah is your last stop.

THAT SOUNDS REMOTE, WHAT ABOUT EMERGENCIES!?

We’ve got you. Every cabin is equipped with a first aid kit, and there is a defibrillator in the main house. There will be 6 first responders/nurses among us campers, and the camp host is an experienced wildland fire fighter. We will go over emergency and evacuation procedures during camp orientation on Friday. If you know you have serious allergies, don’t forget your medications, and please flag your needs with us ahead of time.

I LIKE FOOD. ARE YOU GOING TO FEED ME?

You betcha, friend. We’ll provide all meals between Friday evening and Monday morning. In addition, each of the five house kitchens will be stocked with snacks and beverages, and tent and van campers will be assigned a home kitchen to pillage at will. If you’ve indicated that you have allergies, we’ve got you covered, and our caterer will be preparing you allergy safe meals. If there are specific snacks and beverages that you can’t live without, please plan on bringing them with you.

WHAT BEVERAGES ARE YOU SERVING?

Beer and wine primarily. On Friday we’ll serve a sangria with dinner, and on Saturday we’ll have a bourbon cocktail available. Non-alcoholic beverages (water, sparkling water, and iced tea) will be available all day every day. Hot coffee and tea will be served daily at breakfast, and will available to prepare yourself in any house kitchen. If there are other beverages that you can’t live without, please plan on bringing them with you.

WHAT’S THE DRESS CODE?

Not too fancy, not too shabby. It’s a summer party in the woods with a light Dirty Dancing vibe. Go ahead and leave the suits at home, unless you really want to rock it, but no t-shirts either please. For dress wearing folks who are looking for a little inspiration, feel free to wear colors in lilac to sunset hues, or wear whatever makes you feel great.

YAY!
